I hate mods and never play with them, so it's very unfortunate that only modders seem to be able to fix all these problems with the game. Maybe EA needs to take some of their profits and hire more people or something. What I generally do is travel to the magic place until I learn transportalate, then I make sure my sim always transportalates after that. Between that and dueling for knowledge it's usually fairly quick after that to level up to max power and spell/potion knowledge. It is WAY more convenient to be able to read tomes though, especially when I've spent 8 previous generations collecting them ALL.
@peewee5278 - I've been saying the same about bug fixing. If Maxis/EA can't be bothered to cool off the new content for a while, they should at least hire a dedicated bug fix team that does nothing else but find and fix the bugs. Even bugs they claim are fixed often aren't, like the Gardening glitch. It's better now in many ways, but not fixed. Just a slightly less buggy bug.
Novel writing hasn't worked right in months! My sims jump out of writing books about 30% of the time and then the only option is to scrap the book because they will never finish it. I think it's related to Nifty Knitting because they do the same with knitting projects occasionally and it worked fine before I had that pack.
@peewee5278 - All sorts of things have gone sideways. The cheat for the Animal Affection Aspiration Trait (traits.equip_trait Attraction) has stopped working, for example. I like to cheat for good first Aspiration Traits you miss out on because you only get to pick one, like Quick Learner, Business Savvy, Collector, and Essence of Flavor.
Still no solution for this issue, nor most of the other major bugs that have happened since July 23.
