[FIXED] Shoes are not removed when a Styled Look is applied

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.90.375.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except for most of the kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Go to CAS -> Styled Looks -> Category sleepwear or swimwear (as those are the categories that have looks with no shoes). 2. Dress your sim in an outfit with shoes first. 3. Apply a styled look without shoes then.
What happens when the bug occurs? The shoes are not removed when the styled look is applied.
What do you expect to see? Existing shoes should be removed when a styled look is applied.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Noticed this issue just now and not completely sure when it started happening. But I figured that this wasn't an issue mid 2021 (looking at footage of some old custom styled looks created then).

Attached are two screenshots for step 2. and step 3.

Short update, I figured out the culprit:

The reason the shoes are not removed is that the respective CAS parts (yfShoes_Nude, ymShoes_Nude and cuShoes_Nude) are missing a certain flag - the "ShowInUI” flag - that the Styled Looks seem to have as a requirement. Setting this flag makes the Styled Looks recognize and apply the items as expected. I noticed the same issue with some other outfit items I had used for my custom SL (outfit items that need to be unlocked in CAS).

I don't know which game update is behind this and what was changed exactly (I think now it must be one in 2022, werewolf patch or earlier, based on the time I noticed same thing happening with unlockable CAS items in my custom looks). The update might not have touched the CAS items directly but maybe changed something about the way SL work. It also makes sense to me that certain items would not have the "ShowInUI” flag but it's curious that SL seem to require it. In particular, since this also affects the functionality of EAs looks.

I don't have much hope that this will ever be fixed. But it would be nice. My only option right now is overriding the CAS parts adding the missing flag. This unfortunately marks all sims with the CC flag though, which is suboptimal.

Update: Same issue seems to occur with the topless CAS parts for male sims.

  • This bug still exists and should be set as "Open".

Not only that shoes are overriding bare feet, also shirts remain in shirtless outfits like swimwear.

The issue doesn't only affect CAS but also the mannequins from GTW. Create a shirtless swimwear outfit on a mannequin, then let your Sim buy it while wearing his everyday outfit. His top and his shoes will be saved as part of the swimwear.
