I am having the exact same problem with my elder Sims not being able to retire as of August 28th, 2022. Here is my information:
Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? 100% of the time
What is your current game version number? 1.90.375.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? None
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to retire elder Sim from a career
What happens when the bug occurs? When I try to retire my Sim from their career, they get half-way done with the call to retire, but then the game glitches leading them not to finish the call.
What do you expect to see? That my Sim will retire after making the call
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? I have in the past but currently am not using any mods/cheats
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes, I believe after the last update. I am not 100% sure because I didn't have an elder Sim to retire until 8/28/22
