    Sims will be more discerning over who they decide is worth mourning when an NPC Sim passes away.
    Fixed in Patch 1.47.49

I am having a really annoying issue with the grief buff as well.  Since installing Seasons, I have noticed that my Sim will grieve for 2 days due to losing someone, but (and I have double checked my notifications), I am not notified that anyone died.  In one case, it was a brand new Sim who didn't have any interactions with anyone, therefore no relationships, but they had the grief buff and grieved for 2 days.  It happens about every other Sim day.
