Fixed in Patch 1.47.49
Sims will be more discerning over who they decide is worth mourning when an NPC Sim passes away.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play until someone you know dies.
What happens when the bug occurs? Any time someone my sim has met dies, my sim mourns them. They are sad for two days.
What do you expect to see? My sim should mourn an appropriate length of time. Someone they have seen but don't know shouldn't grieve them for two days. Likewise, witnessing someone's death shouldn't mourn them if they've been spared by the grim reaper.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
No matter who dies, or how well they are known (or not really known) my sim gets a moodlet (one for every death--so sometimes multiple) for sadness that lasts two days. Not every death should bring my sim down so much. I understand they can be sensitive, but it's really too much.
