Going to mark this as solved cause lately all reports have been mod related.
Could be related or not, but this happened to me a few times:
When I order the Sim to cook, the money is deducted instantly, but because of other orders issued after the cooking, they seem to skip the new order to actually go cooking. The sim will go on and start performing the new order that I queued after cooking and the money gets added back to my funds.
Although I have turned off free will for my sims, when the urge is there to perform an action, like go to the toilet, they seem to skip the actual cooking order and as in the case above the money gets back added and they run to the toilet.
It could be that the problem lies in the fact that there are actually 2 orders involved: 1 is to chose what to cook from the fridge (money gets deducted), the 2nd order is to actually go cook it (= the action with the chef's hat icon). Just a guess of me here... I hope the developers can pinpoint and solve this.
EDIT It could also be related to the issue of orders getting dropped from queue because of mood change. This would be a change of mood between issueing the cooking order and walking to the fridge.
