Going to mark this as solved cause lately all reports have been mod related.
I am having this same issue. I have no mods, but it started after an automatic update on the game by Origin a couple days ago. This is the first time I played the game since that update, and this is the first time I have had that problem.
Did any of the workarounds work for you ?
I found that exiting and restarting the game worked. Hopefully it will not be a recurring issue. Here is the link to the latest update details:

It talks about fixing various load errors. I wonder if there may be an occasional issue with loading how the fridge works correctly, and with this fix, it isn't always insistent on loading the fridge correctly.
This bug is present since the December (or January) patch.
I don't know what the cause of it is.
