You can now extinguish a fire, even if the fire is within another object.

I have been experiencing an issue with fires and extinguishing them too. I was told to post in this area and it does somewhat fit with the original post, although not related to door locking. Here is my original post from the forums:
Is there suddenly an issue with sims being able to extinguish fires? I can click on the fire and select extinguish but it always X's out and the sim waves his or her hand as if there's a routing issue (this has happened at more than one location and one house so there is no routing issue). Also, every single time I try to use the fire pit there is a fire. It's starting to get annoying to watch every sim at a party run to the street and waves there hands in distress because there's a fire and you can't do anything but wait for it to burn out. Is this a new bug?

This one is actually pretty old as well and I'm not sure if it's supposed to be fixed at all.
