[FIXED] Sims standing on driveway after loading household

    We fixed an issue that would cause Sims to appear outside of their home on the sidewalk when players would switch between households via Manage Worlds.
    • Sims should remember their last known position, position themselves there, and wait for player instructions should they wish to re-position their position.
      • Have we hit semantic satiation yet?

    This has been addressed in Patch 1.24.102

My sims were sleep when I saved my game. When I went to play today, they are outside. Can this be changed? Can they not start where they left off like on sims 3?

    Just check my Sims, one was sleeping, one was looking at the stars.
    It happens when you start a game for the first time, and when you travel...

        I'm having this issue too. Regardless of how I leave my Sims when I save and quit, when I restart the Sims and load my family, they're standing out in the street and their saved Whims have reset to generic ones.

        I repaired my game in Origin (vanilla install, no mods) to address the fridge bug. I started a new save file with a newly created family, not one saved in the library. I built them a new home in World View, ensured it was set to Residential, then moved my family in. They had the bug in their starter home, they have it in their new home. Any new save files have this bug.

        If it helps, I'm running Windows 7, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 760, over 500GB free HDD space.

      I almost never travel and always end my game play paused, with them asleep, and with every thing they need to do in the morning set up before I save. Now nearly every time I play they are awake and standing on the sidewalk in the middle of the night with everything I set up gone. I just started having this particular issue after a few months of playing, but this game in general has more bugs than any program I have ever used. I own all 4 Sim games, many other games, and am pretty computer literate. I've been thinking about writing down all the bugs but have heard rather than create another patch for this game they are moving on to Sims 5 so I don't know if it's worth it, but I am driven insane about 4-6x per hour when I play this because it responds horribly, cancels out future actions, suddenly things are blocking/in their way that have never been before (couch, counters etc), and many many more. Could be a good game if they took the time to fix the bugs.

        So you never switched to another lot when this happens ? Not even build mode from the map ?

        @crinrict , after removing both slot 1 backup saves and the localthumbcache.package, I patched, opened my game, edited a family description in manage households, then opened a new household I was rotating into.  When I selected the household I now wanted to play, it showed that 3 of the 4 family members were home and the 4th was at a park.  I selected one of the members at home and loaded.  All 4 of the household sims were standing outside the front of the lot.

        Played that family for about 6 sim days, saved and closed the game.  Next play session I selected another household to play after the game loaded.  All family members were shown as being at home and all were...standing in front of the house.

        This is an existing save not a new game.  My game is vanilla, no mods/cc.  It doesn't appear the fix/change worked on this particular save, if I'm understanding correctly that what I'm describing is what was supposed to be changed/fixed.  I saw the same behavior on loading a newly selected household that I would have expected to see prior to patching.

        Sims being outside when changing households hasn't been a pet peeve for me, so this is merely to provide the feedback you have requested.  Perhaps the behavior will be different in a new game?  I don't have plans to start a new game until after I get and install CL.  I'll be happy to update here at that time, if the experience is different.
