I have similar problem. Currently i play get together. I create a new group to hang out at library. The club do list is - read，write， be friendly. The strange things happen is the sims just pickup a book for a second ， then put down on floor and pickup another one ， then put down again. Just one hour later， the library floor and table fill with books and actually they havent sit down enjoy books nor talk.
I have tried repair the game, put save folder etc to destop and reset games. Its happen continuously like this in group.

This is supposed to be fixed in Patch 1.16.61
Taking feedback before marking it as solved and removing from the list
I am still having this issue with my sims and I have used the latest game update.
@crinrict , I'm seeing mixed results in my save. This is a save that had not been played since February that I went back to a couple of days ago. Background info since this feedback isn't from a newly started game.
1. I had a sim read a book at the library in WC. She read the whole book from start to finish.
2. Told a sim to read a book on the home lot. She started the book at a table, got up and turned on the stereo, read for a short time more and put the book back on the table. She had more interest in the "listen to music", which I hadn't put in the queue, the game did. When I clicked on the book it wasn't saying "reread", still showed just "read" option. I told her again to read it and this time she did without breaking from the task, even though I didn't cancel the "listen to music".

@LWOW01 Was that in your house or in a club meeting ?
The bug with the club meetings is still there. It has it's own thread.
For me it seems to work pretty well so far so if you still have the issues on home lots, make sure you're not using outdated mods and start a new game for testing purposes to see if it also occurs there.
