    also having this issue, regular lot, seed placed outside and on ground (no planter) but no option to plant comes up. If I place it in a planter i get something that says to place it in a larger area

    It takes up quite some space so move it to a larger empty area. A future patch will hopefully make it so that it can be planted in a large planter.
