Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.90.375.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Vampires, Get to Work
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Start from a saved game. If you've disabled Wants & Needs previously, they will still appear over your Sim's portrait despite being disabled. This happens when you start a new game, edit a household in CAS, go to Manage Worlds, or pick up from where you last left off on a given save file.
What happens when the bug occurs? Wants & Needs still appear despite being disabled in Gameplay options. One must re-enable Wants & Needs, hit Apply, then disable and hit Apply again for them to disappear. They stay gone until you go to CAS/Manage Worlds/start from your last save.
What do you expect to see? I expect that Wants & Needs stay gone when I've disabled them. I don't expect to have them re-appear each time I go to CAS/Manage Worlds/start from my last save file. This happens whether or not I've got Custom Content/mods added.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I got the latest patch (August 2nd hotfix for rapid aging/inappropriate family relationships).
I pretty much explained what the problem is. Wants & Needs re-appear above my Sims' portraits even though I've got them disabled. It shows in Game Options > Gameplay that they are disabled, yet they're still there. I have to check "Show Wants & Fears," hit Apply, then disable Wants & Fears and hit Apply again. It's only a temporary fix; if I go to CAS, Manage Worlds, or restart my game/go to the main menu, they show up again as if they're enabled. It's the same thing each time.

I moved your post over to a different thread for this. This is for the toggle resetting when travelling.
The other was occurring before the E-Patch and I don't think it's the same issue.
If you clicked me too on the other thread, make sure to click me too here too.
@LadyDarkSorrow I merged your post with the bug report

I played for a while last night, and the Wants/Fears reappear (despite the setting being toggled off) every single time a household loads.
It even happened at one point when I was playing two sims from a household who were on vacation in Granite Falls and when I had the remaining household members join the vacation everyone suddenly had Wants/Fears again. That doesn't even generate a loading screen - just loaded the additional sims.
It's a pretty annoying nuisance to have to keep going in and fixing it over and over again. I hope they can address this sooner than later.

All of the toggles in the settings are broken. I have 'bust the dust' switched on in pack settings; but I've not seen a single dust bunny appear even once all the way through spring. This is making the asperation 'perfectly pristine' impossible to achieve.
- donaborisova3 years agoSeasoned Newcomer@GreaseBones96 Same for me too. When i tick it on an off and then apply the changes it disappears, but when i go to CAS and go back to the game after that they're still there.

this is happening to me too, along with all of the "pack settings" for example animal aging, neighbourhood stories and NPC relationship autonomy. Turn it off, then it turns back on if my sim travels or I quit the game.
- Jomilej3 years agoNew Ace@blueflynnn OMG yes, same!! And not just that, traits' effects are also ignored. My sim with the fresh chef trait makes food that spoils when it isn't supposed to do so with that trait, my sim with the unstoppable fame have their fame decaying when they're not supposed to. Lifestyles sometimes appear even if they are disabled in some of my saves.
It's like the game ignores every settings and systems in the game and don't recognize them anymore. But the most annoying ones are the wants and fears and animal aging- kissykaede3 years agoSeasoned Traveler
EA plays whack-a-mole with game-breaking bugs and expects us to just "hope the next update fixes it!" ever since this game came out. This is never going to change. EA will continue stringing us along until The Sims 5 comes out and then they will abandon this game as a broken buggy mess just like they did with The Sims 3. You are all better off uninstalling this game and never thinking about it again; that's what I'll be doing. Please do yourselves a favor and do not play the games-as-a-service Sims 5, it will be a giant scam and will probably be an even buggier mess than this broken game. Somebody else needs to pick up the gauntlet of dollhouse life simulator because this series has been a non-stop trainwreck and dumpster fire for well over a decade. I think even Paradox could do it better than EA.

3 weeks and they haven't even acknowledged that this is an issue they're actively trying to resolve. I still play my game even with this very inconvenient bug, as annoying as it is to have to re-disable it every time I return from CAS or start my game. But I'm going to say right now that there's no way I'm going to invest in Sims 5 if customers' bug reports are going to be ignored and simple bugs go unfixed. There was nothing wrong with Whims, and I wish they'd never changed the system. It's honestly pretty weak. Wants & Fears is a worse system than Whims was.

Mine toggles on everytime I reload as well. But another part of the glitch I'm struggling with the most is when it is off my sims still gets scared of the dark (even when the wants and fears are toggled off), but now my sim gets "scared of the dark" during the day, outside all the time. So he's essentially scared all the time and can't do anything cause he's to scared.
- t00sa3 years agoNew Adventurer@elizabeth2929 This bug is the worst. Because of the broken toggle, even sims in inactive households can develop fears. I like playing with multiple different households in a single save and switching between them when I play. It gets really tiring to keep track of who has a fear and who doesn't...
The best you can do in the sims rn, is just building or creating sims- HawnaKitty3 years agoNew Ace@t00sa The worse bug is the plant and flower bug in Seasons. This one is irritating though
