@stjmk As I wrote in the title it happens to both, foundation and platform. And there's no basement. It happens everytime where ever I try to do it.
If you sink the foundation/floor/platform into the ground, unfortunately, the ground sinks.
Think we're up against the basic game mechanics. Such a nuisance!

@stjmk Thanks for your patience, but I didn't sink anything into the ground. In the picture I only wanted to show that it's vanishing underground when I'm placing walls around a foundation/platform. I'm not doing anything to the terrain and it's happening. And it's since the last patch.
I attached another picture, hopefully it's better to see what I mean. The wall goes right down to the floor when I place it around a foundation/platform. And I can't bring it up again. It stays down.
- 4 years ago@olnaboo Okay, I'm probably missing something. Sorry! But it is definitely weird.
Haven't been able to reproduce that effect in my game (with July patch) with just a foundation or platform and adding walls. As I said, have seen something like it when I tried to bury/lower a room for a split level, or a build that I wanted the ground floor to be underground. (Grr! Game mechanics!) Can see how it would be most annoying!
Anyway, one thing you might want to try is a game repair through Origin, just in case. Sometimes it takes three game repairs (and click your heels) before it takes.- 4 years ago
@stjmk Sadly the game repair didn't work. Tried it four times now. It's pretty weird and I seem to be the only one with that problem. I google searched with every word combination possible. Oh well ... it's annoying ... But thank you for your patience and kind words!! I really appreciate that.

@olnabooI think maybe this comes back at least in part to the original answer that foundations and platforms are two different things. Looking at your second image - that's a platform, not a foundation.
And it is working as intended, unfortunately. Platforms are for split/sunken levels in houses, or for decks - they're not intended to support walls and only fences can be placed on top of them. I would argue that I would like to be able to place half-walls on top at least, but I guess the intent is that you have more wallpaper options than platform trims and so can use half walls to hide the sides of your platform if you want. Do you have an image of this bug occurring with a foundation (made by dragging the room up, not clicking the up/down arrows)?- 4 years ago@PipMenace The OP had it happen with foundations, too. It's very weird.
