I have the same issue since yesterday.
My proces of quitting the game: Save first, then save and exit. On the latter it freezes and I even have to force my laptop to shut down.
I can press the windows key and then I see my windows taskbar. But if I select chrome or right click on the sims to shut it down like that, nothing happens.
The first time I started the game up yesterday I had a short freeze in the intro screen.
I play on a new laptop and I have no mods, I have all dlc except for the little fits or something kit.
Fun fact, when I opened origin to check my game version, my library is completely empty...
I am glad to see I am not the only one having this issue! I have pulled my sims 4 folders out and started a new game. It still freezes.
- @LearningPoole Ventura is the newest MacOS version and this is a known issue for this platform.
So, is that the MacOS version you're using ?I just added a spoiler on accident and I don't know what that is!

Choose Save, not Save and Exit to properly save your game.
