Hi! I'm also having this problem on PC. Sims can interact with the indoor bin just fine and can empty indoor bins to the outdoor bin but I can't click on the outdoor bin at all. I also can't seem to compost which is probably a separate issue, but currently, I cannot use an outdoor bin. Even if I buy a new one or move lot - nothing works. If anyone has a fix for this, let me know please 🙂
Up until now I've not had any unsolvable issues with my outdoor trashcans. But, lately my Sims have occasionally been going long distances to use a public trashcan instead of the ones available on their own lot.
So far this mostly happens in Henford-on-Bagley and Chestnut Ridge. If I tell them to throw away trash they walk to the closest public trashcan, not the closest on-site trashcan. Odd.
If I put an escape proof fence around the lot they just throw up their hands and dump it on the ground. Replacing the outdoor cans with the trash eating money maker works.
Haven't experimented with all the outdoor trashcans in a vanilla game. Usually trashcan problems are solved by moving them around and not using move-objects-on when placing them. MOO can make trashcans behave badly even if they seem accessible.
Sometimes repairing the game fixes trashcan issues.
