It happens on new saves as well. Unfortunately, I do not have a backup of my game from before this was happening. When my sims get the breakthrough, they do the animation, have a lightbulb above their head, get the focused moodlet, and I recieve a notification.
I'm having a problem with break throughs at the moment I have 4 different house holds with 4 different sims in the career 2 male a female and non binary but one of male sims hasn't had any breakthroughs and close to get a promotion. iv tried doing different interactions weather its at home or controlling the sim at work doing things like reading, taking showers , using microscope nothing happens. but when controlled another sim in a different house hold its working fine I controlled a different male sim and had 2 beak throughs in order to promote him to level 2 in the job and got breakthroughs from reading and taking a shower I even controlled a female non binary sim and got 1 breakthrough from reading so iv no idea what's going on with the 1st male scientist sim living in the main house hold and why I can't get 1 breakthrough in the job even quitting and re joining didn't do anything
