@Timmering, thank you for telling us you use the MCCC Mod! 😇 Is your version of the MCCC mod up to date? 🤔 The creator of that Mod is usually pretty good about updating it every time it becomes outdated after EA updates TS4 in a patch. Your problem might be a bug, but we have to rule out any conflict from your Mod. So, if you could please do the following it would help out!
1) Move the Mods Folder to your desktop
2) Delete localthumbcache.package file in the game folder.
3) Fix you game in Origin by logging in and go to Library, then right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the "Repair Game" option from the list. Wait until Origin finishes repairing all your packs and not just the base game.
4) Now, when you turn on your game again, it will create a new mods folder that will be empty. Check to see if your game is now working without mods/CC.
If that fixes your problem then you know that your Mod is outdated, which means that you need to go to the creator and download the latest version! 🙂 (Deleting the localthumbcache and repairing the game will help get rid of any corrupted data that might remain behind, which is why I listed those other steps! 🤨)
However, if you did the steps I listed above, and have the most recent version of MCCC and you game still has problems, then I would think your problem is either one of 2 things:
1) there could be a chance that the pet graves were not working and either the Mod or the graves have been updated so it doesn't happen to any new pet graves, but that all the old pet graves affected by this might remain as human Sim graves.
2) or this could be a bug that is still unfixed. I check the list of current bugs that is pinned to the top of the Bug Reports section, and couldn't find your problem under pets or under graves. But if like you said that this happens when your Sim is not with their pet and is on a different lot, it might be rare and that could account for there not being a Bug Report on it yet. So, you would need to file a Bug Report on this by going here https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/bd-p/The-Sims-4-Bugs and describing what is going on in your game! 🙂
