[HR] No new mysterious rancher generated after original npc died/added

Since you use mods, do you use SimsInfo?  You can use that to see all sims in a save.  Just click on a sim, choose Show Sim Info, then choose All Sims in the Game.  You'll get a selection panel.  Just scroll down until you find the ghost.  Since sims now display in all the panels in alphabetical order, just scroll down to the R's and take a look.  If he is there, that means he's still in your save.  So, try that, and if you do find him, come back and post and we'll go from there.  I have to test a little bit, but I think you might be able to bring him back to life with MCCC if his ghost is still in your game.

I have a similar issue, although in my case I have never seen him in this particular save. Not in welcome wagon, on the community board, or anywhere else. If I use the cheat "sims.get_sim_id_by_name roberto crinkletop" i6 just get "sim not found".

My other saves are ok, but this is my main save and for some reason he's just not there.

Personally, I delete all premade townies (including the special ones like Agnes) to either make my own or just because I don't want them in my game. I deleted the Mysterious Rancher with MCCC. He's a hidden household, but you can unhide him with the mod. I've been playing for weeks in Chestnut Ridge and I haven't seen a new one generated.

Some NPCs need a hidden trait alongside a career in order to fill certain roles and jobs. (The Ranch Hand and Horse Trainer also have a hidden trait and career that need to be applied to make your own.)

If you add these to a Sim then move them to the unplayed households tab, you can make your own Mysterious Rancher. If you ever make them an active Sim, they will lose their career.

I had the same issue, but for a different reason. I suspect my game has culled Roberto Crinkletop - I did not add him to a household or kill him - and no mysterious rancher is showing up. It’s been more than four in-game weeks. A mysterious rancher doesn’t show up to buy nectar, or with a welcome wagon, and there’s no mysterious rancher npc listed on the info board. Roberto Crinkletop also does not show up in the relationship panel of sims like the Grove family, who start the game with a relationship with him. 

The save that this happened in had over 500 sims in “my households” so it’s culling sims almost as soon as I enter live mode. For any other household, I can prevent this by moving them into “my households,” but I can’t do that with Roberto Crinkletop because he doesn’t show up in household management.

These cheats need to be entered in Live mode.

Make sure testing cheats is turned on then copy and paste these into your cheats bar:

Remember that anytime you make the Sim active and load into their household, they will lose their NPC role. This also means going into CAS then exiting back into Live mode with them. So I always add the trait and career last, then exit to manage worlds, move the household to unplayed households and evict them from the lot. Some NPC roles do have other requirements like the base game fisherman. They can't be a young adult, only an adult or elder. Gym trainers need the active trait and max fitness skill. I don't know if the Mysterious Rancher has other requirements, but mine is an elder with the rancher, horse lover, and romantic traits. Make sure to evict them from their lot because they may need to be homeless.
