I haven't had that occur. I just played through a "normal" day without sending other family members off the lot and it worked fine. Was with teen during school day and shortly after 3:00 switched control to her child brother who had just returned home from elementary school. Played with the family members who were at home just fine, no traveling to other lots. Until 3:30 the teen showed away with the 'care for self' default selection. She went to cheerleading just fine on her own at 3:30. Cheerleading ended at 5:30. She was still off the lot so I had to click on her to 'bring her here' (to home lot). So all that seemed normal. I can keep watch for other similar issues. However, I play rotationally and it is coming up on a sim weekend and I will switch over to a household without a teen, so won't be playing with teen after school activities for a while.
Playing another family now and have something similar. Two children go to elementary school fine. Servo goes off to work for 8 hour shift. I take the 2 remaining adults in the household to a community lot. Shortly after I arrive with them there, I get a notification that Servo has returned from work. This is less than 1 hour into an 8 hour shift. Servo is at home lot caring for self. Bring Servo to the community lot to see if I can send her back to work. But there is no option to send her back to work. The children stay in elementary school.
No clubs. I don't have Get Together.
ETA: In the most recent example I did invite a third sim from another household to the community lot to travel together. In the HSY example, it was just one sim traveling solo.
