I think this happens when a sim, let's call them sim A, purchases an outfit from Trendi and then sells the outfit. The pieces in the outfit are still in the Trendi store, but some pieces are "Locked, this item is being used in a different outfit". Maybe this is to make sure you can't create the same outfit twice and sell it? I don't know. The annoying part is when Sim A has a baby and that baby grows up to be a teenager, the new teenager cannot get those pieces either. They are in the Trendi shop, but grayed out with a lock icon on them because they are "used in a different outfit". This becomes an issue with long running legacy saves because more and more items are locked. I even started a new save file, but because I imported a sim that had previously sold Trendi outifts, some pieces were locked in this manner. This means the lock probably follows the Sim. I did notice that if I looked at the locked items, restarted the game, then different pieces would be locked. It's odd that the pieces are randomly locked. Maybe it's not my Sim that purchased and sold them but others in the game? I'll check back when the items rotate, but it seems odd to show the items for sale when they cannot be purchased. It should be hidden or available. I also noticed that unlockable pieces will appear occasionally, but because I haven't unlocked them for my sim, I cannot buy them. I think those pieces shouldn't be shown at Trendi.
