I recently had sims with the child of the island trait summon Sulani Elementals. They appeared but they were all elders. In the past they used to be adults. Ever since the update that allows ghosts to be created in CAS, adult aged sulani elementals are impossible. Others have reported that their default death type is now elder exclusive. Please allow aduld elementals again. The entire point of befriending them is to get children with them to gain the Sulanit Mana trait. With only adult Sulani Elementals, this trait has become unavailable.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Create a sim with the child of the island trait, move them to a lot with the lot trait Sulani elementals. Summon the elementals. Only elder ghosts are spawned. This used to be 100% not the case. My sims have married (young) adult Sulani Elementals before.
What happens when the bug occurs? No Sulani elementals in a fertile age spawn
What do you expect to see? Sulani Elementals who are still able to produce offspring
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? After the patch that allows creation of ghosts in CAS
@crinrict as far as I can see these are two separate problems.
Sulani elementals still being ghosts after moving in is an old issue. It depends on which action you use to move them in. In the English version at least. I have looked extensively in the Dutch version and there we have only the option to move them in as ghosts. And even if English speaking swimmers accidentally choose the wrong one, they can still rectify this by using ambrosia, the wishing well or the dedeadify spell.
My issue is new. The elder lifestage makes elementals infertile and there is no way to age them down to a fertile age without cheating. I don't mind having to revive them. They will remain infertile even if they are brought back to life because since the life and death patch they are all elders.
Fixing one of these mistakes will not solve the other one.

Going to check with a community manager what they want to keep it separate.
It's both an issue with having kids with the Sulani elemental and since either problem is not very popular, I think it would increase chances to get it fixed if it's one thread.
Since @Kerrybubbles post was made post after the patch, my guess is they also had the elder issue without realizing.
Reason the elder bug happens:
- Prior to the Oct 18 Patch, No death type was restricted by age.
- Post patch they really cleaned up the system and made death by old age elder exclusive; this is something to be of note.
- Sulani Elementals get pulled from the sim filter.
- Sulani Elementals ALWAYS have the death by old age ghost type.
- Therefore Any Elementals in Older Saves do not meet the sim filter, therefore losing their role & a new one is generated.
- Causing All Elementals to be elders
- Which creates the issue of the special trait, and having children with them.
I see three possible fixes for this issue:
- Change the Death by Old Age trait to NOT be restricted to elder, but restricted in the ghost UI, as previously
- Change the Death Type to An Existing One (E.g Drowning)
- Or make a entire new ghost type 'Sulani Elemental'
The second issue is them joining as ghosts
There is two interactions:
- 'Invite to join household' under the friendly tab which is default for all ghosts and makes the sulani elementals join as a ghost.
- 'Ask to move in' which isnt categorised anywhere, which brings them in as a human.
Ideally Maxis should just remove the first interaction.
Which could work well with making a new ghost type sulani elemental, which could let them blacklist the interaction for sims with that trait.
