I've seen a lot of replies to posts similar to this, most of them include deleting the cache folder. I found a different way and it worked on my game. Just go to Manage worlds click on a different familly (you don't have to play it or click on the play button) and then go back to your own family and play it normally. I should add that you need to save and go to manage worlds. Afterwards the issue will be fixed :D
