Intelligence Research not researching!

In the Secret Agent career path, my Sim is currently a Field Agent. The promotion requirements for this include two hours of Intelligence Research. But when I tell my Sim to do this on the PC she starts it up and a couple seconds later the action cancels. And I can't do it after she's done her daily browse because she's already looked at everything.

I've been able to get it to 1 hour by just sitting her at the PC and picking the research option over and over again but I assume that I shouldn't have to do this 🙂

Got another hour to go too...sigh.

PS. No mods (never), no custom content, Windows 7, DVD game.
