LE with Drama Nodes

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.90.375
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get to Work, Seasons, City Living, Discover University, Parenthood, Kids Room Stuff, and the free Holiday pack.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Not entirely sure how it first started, but now that I've gotten it once, I get it every single time I load the game.
What happens when the bug occurs? I've consulted with a Discord support server, and they say that the LE states that there is some error with drama nodes and thus the NPCs aren't able to call/invite my sims. And after I get the LE, I've noticed a significant absence of invites/calls from NPCs. However, my sims can call the NPCs themselves, but the NPCs won't call the played sims.
What do you expect to see? I expect no LEs and I expect for NPCs to be able to call my played sims.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

‌I've attached my LE---I've gotten an MCLE as well when I was testing vanilla, but this LE is from when I tested without MCCC and all other of my cc and mods. I can't seem to upload the MCLE but let me know if you wanted a screenshot or something of it.

Anyway, I've tested with mods, with only MCCC, and without even MCCC, and the error persists.

EDIT: nvm can't seem to attach the LE either lol

  • Okay, I got a solution for this from catamorphmagus#3497 on the MCCC discord, so if anyone else ran into this problem, hopefully you see this 🙂

    Spoiler

backup your current save and make sure you turn off MCCC culling settings before starting:

    Here's the fix:
    - Turn off aging in-game if you have custom age spans so that your sims don't all age up automatically. Save/Exit your game.
    - Remove MCCC + delete L files, delete the resource.cfg from your mods folder. (You can leave your CC and any other mods.)
    - Reopen the game and load into a household, do a "save as".
    - Close the game and delete L files (and resource.cfg) again since the last exception will show even without MCCC.
    - Then reopen your game, load into another household and do another "save as" and close your game.
    - Delete L files again.
    - Open game, load into a household, and now alt + tab out to see if a LE txt file was generated. If all went well, it should be gone.
    - You can exit your game now (might as well "save as") and re-add in MCCC.

After I did this, the error hasn't come back for me so I think, for now at least, this is the best fix there is.

    Thanks much to Catamorph :D

  • Anyways, since I (still) cannot attach the LE, this is what the LE states:

And I converted my MCLE into a pdf so the error is visible (but not any other additional info unfortunately)

@princess-chid   I have the same exception as you I see the solution you made .But Is it very safe to do this and remove the resource.cfg ?

MC Command Center Last Exception Nov 28 - 15:54:25 Summary

    • Last Module Called: npc_invite_situation_drama_node.py
    • Last Function Called: _get_zone_id
    • Error message: (AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'vacation_or_home_zone_id'), CategoryID: npc_invite_situation_drama_node:308
  • @Anonymous Well, it worked for both me and Catamorph with no further issues, so I’d say so! Of course, can’t guarantee anything, but that’s why you back up your saves beforehand, so in the unlikely case that something were to go wrong, you have the unaltered version of your saves.

Deleting the resource file shouldn’t give you any problems though, as it always regenerates when you open the game

It's a lot of manipulation, that's why I hesitated too, but I'll give it a try. Thanks a lot!

    @princess-chid

Another quick question...Can I only do a general save and exit the game instead of save as ?

  • I’m no tech expert, so I would just follow the instructions outlined by Catamorph. I would think you’d have to do a save as

if you have further questions though, you should join the MCCC discord (https://discord.gg/mccc) which is also linked on the MCCC website and tag Catamorph on the general support channel for help

@princess-chid I'm running into this problem too, when you say "delete L files", do you mean "delete all LE files"?
