Thanks for going back and doing such exhaustive testing! I'll go back and test again. The effect in your pics shows clearly. I tested on both medium and short walls and did use the lava lamp, among others when I was testing. And I used those curtains that you show in the latest pics as well among others. I had the lamps on a side table too. I also tested it at night in a new build that hadn't been furnished yet but the house was completely enclosed. I just didn't get what you are showing in your pics.
One more question though. Does this happen in both build mode and live mode for you or does it happen in one but not the other? I tested in build mode only so if it is happening for you only in live mode, that might be the difference. This time I will test in live mode too.
So, where does that leave us? Hardware is one candidate I can think of. I play on a desktop PC with a relatively high-end graphics card. I see you play on a PC but is it a desktop or laptop? If this issue is hardware related, tbh, there's not much you'll be able to do about it and will have to live with it.
Other than that, I can't think of anything else that might be causing the issue atm. So, let me do some more testing to see if I can replicate the issue and I'll get back to you.
Hope this helps.
@CGrant56 - I'm on a windows 10 prof. desktop pc with ASUS GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti graphics which is good enough for TS4.
And as I have said, the issue is visible in several lots since we can paint the ceilings. I never had nor noticed this before.
And yes, the issue is visible in build and live mode.
I have a favor to ask. Could you pls go and test on the same lot in Windenburg? The lot is called "Havisham" Not sure if it's the same name for you since my game is in German.
Right now I'm on another lot also in Windenburg where the two girls "Freigeister" live. The lot is called "Landhaus am See" (in German) and it looks like on this lot the light issue does not show. This makes me think that the lighting problem only occurs on some plots, not all, for whatever reason. Will test in another world later.

Ok, I tested on a lot called "Sims Square" in Windenburg and the same issue in there. But here comes my find!
The reason for the lighting issue is the STAIRS!
For some reason the stairs are the culprit for the light issue. I know we have stairs issues lately but that? Who would have guessed...
When I remove the stairs, the pinkish light issue is gone. - Check out my little video clip taken on the "Havisham" lot. - CGrant562 years agoHero+
Great! I'm glad you found it. I did do some more testing today and still couldn't replicate it so I didn't have any good news for you. It makes a little more sense knowing it is the stairs and the light is getting to the lower floor through the stair opening. The rooms I was testing in didn't have stairs in them so I never would have found it. Stairs have always done some weird things with lighting like if you ever look at the stair rails on the floor above the stair, the upper part of the railing is always darker but if you turn a light on below, they brighten up. So, it doesn't really surprise me that light does transfer the other way (up to down).
Regardless, I am glad you found it. I don't know if there is much to be done about it though other than enclose the stair with walls. But at least knowing why it happens is a good thing imo.
Enjoy your game!! Take care.
- LuvMySimz2 years agoSeasoned Ace@CGrant56 Thank you! And thank you for not ignoring my thread and taking the time to reply and test. Without your reply and participation, I might not have continued testing and would not have found the problem and just give up like most everybody else.
This shows once again that it's important not to simply ignore threads just because almost nobody has them and blame it all on mods and cc. After all, you don't pull problems like this out of your fingers as my pictures and video prove shows. Removing the stairs on lots with the lighting issue does solve the problem, but should not be the #1 solution for the player.
Thanks again for your participation ♥ - CGrant562 years agoHero+
