[MAC] Sims interactions get stuck

I have played the Sims 4 for a while and the other day I bought the Cottage Living expansion pack. I then created a new game but after a few hours, my sims stopped responding to tasks. I reset them but they continued to only do one task and then stop working altogether. I did everything I could find online to fix them including resetting and 'repairing' the game. After a while, I tried a new game and the sims seemed to work, so I began playing that and deleted the old one. However, after a few hours of playing my sims stopped working and the exact same problem occurred. I have tried everything I have seen online and no one seems to have the same probolem.
