mailbox not working - apartment

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? My apartment's mailbox is not working. It doesn't receive mail nor bills (I can pay bills, because I get a notification saying I have 24 hours to pay them), and I cannot ship items to plopsy buyers. I've tried using cheat codes but they don't work or I don't know how to use them since I don't play with cheats, neither with mods nor things from the gallery.
What happens when the bug occurs? shift clicking on the mailbox showed me the option to debug but this did nothing at all. I was not able to delete/sell the mailbox and if I try buying a new mailbox I can only place it inside the apartment. With the mailbox inside the apartment, I cannot ship the item either.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to receive mail, bills and be able to ship things over plopsy.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
