moving into a house turns it into a lot?

The first time I brought up the game it worked fine but now when I move in a new family, I click a house and without giving me any options it becomes a lot. I'm not clicking a lot initially. So I have...

Not sure what you mean by 'it becomes a lot'. Is the house on it deleted ?
