Multi-person households freeze (autonomy on)

8-person households with werewolves will freeze every 4 minutes after patch 1.108.335.1020

First steps taken
1.Mods removed
2.Reset Sims folder
3.Repaired game
4.Deleted cache files
5.Meets recommended specs
6.Does not occur with new data

Product: The Sims 4

Platform: PC Windows11

Which language are you playing the game in? Japanese

How often does the bug occur? 100%

What is your current game version number? 1.108.349.1020 DX9

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?
I've been playing since September 2022, with a werewolf in a household of eight young men. The household members are three werewolves, two wizards, one vampire, and two humans. There are two married couples.

What happens when the bug occurs?
[1] After 1 minute, the werewolf will freeze.
Stop Sim time and wait 1 minute.
It will unfreeze and the Sims will move normally.
[2] After 4 minutes, the werewolf, wizard and vampire will freeze.
The other Sims will move.
Stop Sim time and wait 1 minute and they will start moving.
[3] After 5 minutes, there will be a 5 second delay in the Sim's orders being reflected and the Sim will freeze.
You will not be able to switch Sims.
Game time will continue.
Pause the game and wait 1 minute and they will start moving.
[4] After 5 minutes, give orders to the werewolf and the orders will be entered into the action schedule, but the werewolf will freeze.
[5] After 4 minutes, give orders to the vampire, but the vampire will freeze.
When you enter build mode, the audio will continue to play for 4 seconds and any Sims that are moving will continue to move.
If you wait 10 seconds after they have stopped, a speech bubble above the Sim's head, +- changes in friendship and romance levels, and notifications on the notification board will all appear at once.
They will then start moving.

Every 4 minutes, one of the Sims freezes, and until the process is complete, their behavior becomes unstable (commands are not followed, items cannot be put in the fridge, object placement takes 10 seconds), and this repeats, making it impossible to play properly.

Before Lovestruck was released, this phenomenon did not occur, and Sims continued to animate smoothly.

A: Starting without Lovestruck
B: There is no werewolf in the household.
A or B, the frequency of freezing decreases.

C: There are few people in the household.
D: The household is away at work and there is only one playing Sim.
C or D, freezing almost never occurs.

It often freezes when three or more Sims are talking, so it seems that the process of love related to Lovestruck (everyone in a household can have a romance with everyone) or the process of social actions often freezes.

What do you expect to see? Sims do not freeze

Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? No.

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes.

Please describe the patch or change you made. 1.108.335.1020 Lovestruck introduced

    @ita10004 Thanks

I tested your save and while I did some freezing, it seemed to get better the longer I played.

Do you see any pattern if the Sims are trying to do something that might cause the freezing ?
  • @crinrict Thank you.
I observed what actions cause it to freeze.

[Freeze for 10-30 seconds] * is an instruction
    [1] Washing in the dishwasher/Watering/Ending a PØŞŞ€ŞŞ€Đ
[2] 3-person conversation/3rd person in 2-person conversation goes to talk to Sim/Notification of change in Attraction
[3] Collecting spoiled food/3-person conversation (Keg stand)/Starting yoga
[4] Making a drink/Talking to Sim (asking about their day)/Talking to Sim (telling an interesting story)/Trying to talk to Sim who is trying to talk to them
    [5] Drinking a drink/Trying to join 2-person conversation/3-person conversation
[6] Work promotion/Clean up spoiled drink/Steamy make out session*
[7] Clean up spoiled food/Talking to Sim who is cleaning up food/Eating food/Watching TV/Sleeping
    [8] Drinking a blood pack*/Making a drink/3-person conversation (deep conversation) /Take a bath
[9]Make ice cream* /Encourage plant growth* /Strengthen mattress*

[1 minute freeze] * is an instruction
[1]Clear away rotten food /After that, 7 scheduled actions are automatically scheduled (mop, cross stitch x5, share photos)
    [2]Put in washing machine* /Dance
    [3]Dry laundry*
    [4]Put in dryer*
    [5]Put in dryer* /Drink /Earthquake
    [6]Watch washing machine*

    [Possible causes]

[1] There seems to be a slight freeze when collecting rotten food and dishes and trying to wash them in the dishwasher or at the sink. Sometimes there is no freeze.

[2] There seems to be a slight freeze when going to talk to a group of people who are already talking.

[3] On Laundry Day, there was a particularly severe freeze when loading the laundry into the washing machine, putting it in the dryer, drying the laundry, and watching the laundry.

@ita10004 I wonder if this is the same as other describing as not able to switch Sims. Basically you can't switch because the game is forzen.

I think Sim are just completely overwhelmed with big houses/large households. There's so much stuff they can do and try to do that they basically lock each other out. With the club gather you have going on, there's also a whole other level.

I feel the freezes are a lot less if you turn off autonomy. Can you try what the results are for you if you do ?
  • @crinrict
    I turned off the autonomy.
    It did not freeze.
It is very light and can be operated smoothly.
No freezing of the dishwasher, conversation, or laundry.
    Thank you.

It's true that the house is big and has a lot of usable furniture, so it is heavy.

What's strange is that even old data that was working fine freezes when the autonomy is on.
The data at that time is from July 23rd, 2024.
We were living with eight people in a single-story house that is lighter than it is now.
This data also does not freeze when the autonomy is turned off.
    It runs very smoothly.

@ita10004 Thanks for confirming. I've forwarded your save to the CM and hope it helps Maxis to find out what the current issue with autonomy is and how to make it better.
  • @crinrict

Thank you for your advice and help.

I hope the Sims runs smoothly.

I'm glad to know that it works fine as long as I turn off the autonomy.

It kept freezing so much that I couldn't even raise my Sims, so this was a big help!
