it happens with other interactions too. for example, when one of my Sims chooses to "jazz up the place", the other members of the household will freeze as if they were "listening"--even when not in the same room or even inside the house.
happens to NPCs who walk by, too. their queued actions will not resume until the piano player stops/is stopped.

I have been having the same issue since the new update on 1/11/18. It happened over thirty times in two hours to me yesterday. I uninstalled all mods/cc, cleared caches,trays and repaired my game. Started a new save file yet it is still happening about every ten minutes.
