[NEEDS INPUT] [GT] Birthday club outfit distortion

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? Deutsch
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? n/a
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? all
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Let your sim age up with the cake during a club meeting with club outfits (e.g. everything in yellow).
What happens when the bug occurs? The birthday sim turns into a terribly distorted spider monster. Quick workaround: Use the mirror to plan outfit.
What do you expect to see? No distortion
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

This bug already existed after Get Together was released, but I was sure that it was fixed in a patch years ago. Now it seems to be back.

EDIT: The problem is bigger: the distorted teen kept his childhood aspiration and got no new trait slot.

  • Yeah definitely going to have to wait to play until the update.  Playing a human and even when both parents are human the age up to teen bug is happening.  The toddlers are not eating again (setting their plates down before finishing and in an hour having meltdowns because they’re starving).  Thought this bug was fixed.  Got the tv and radio combo from tiny living and one teen turned it to super loud and no debugging can keep it from being on and upsetting everyone in the household so I had to sell it.  The game has become a job to play so I’m taking a break until the patch.  Sheesh.

Okay, I tried uninstalling sims and reinstalling it without the two new packs that I thought may have caused the bug (tiny living and laundry stuff) and played an old save before a kid aged up who previously had the bug and she aged up fine.  It’s either tiny living or laundry day.  I’m not sure if I want to install those sequentially to figure out the bug or wait for the patch.

Now when I’m looking at how to install them sequentially, they say installed, even though I unchecked them when I installed the sims again.  I’m officially confused and June 2 is too far away.

@lcowden I noticed that the glitch happens with the one piece suits and aging from a clothing asset that the other age group does not have. My child sim aged funny from child to teen while in bear costume. The issue with that is that there was no bear costume that matched the childs bear costume in the teenager adult and they didn't link the main bear costume to the childs colored bear constume worse even yet the costume was tied only to Outdoor Retreat so it wasn't seen as a option to automatically change into. That happened along time ago. I just forgot to report it. Just make sure you don't have a 1 piece on when your sim ages up, especially between toddler and children and children and teen or you may get a spider looking sim that kills traits, but if you miss your trait due to bug you can always go into CAS and add it in. Its not really a game breaking bug just a CAS failed outfit change bug. I heard sometimes it even happens with work cloth bug, especially with the teen job work cloth if they had a birthday with their teen job work cloth, they would age up but the game choose to keep their teen job work cloths on and it just looks so funny. However, that one was fixed when they added part time jobs for everyone.

Interesting.  My kids are wearing normal clothing but I do have them in a club For faster skilling up (am doing a 1000 baby challenge) where boho attire is the club apparel.  If it’s an apparel thing, I will take this club preference off.  Yeah this bug doesn’t seem annoying for normal playing, but when you’re aging up kids constantly for a challenge and have to go into CAS, get a random train manually, and go to the bookshelf to buy them a schoolbook, it makes you want to stop playing the game.  And if your mermaid never gets a mermaid tail, why did I pay $40 for a pack?  It’s a problem.

@Sid1701d9 you’re right!  It’s outfits!  I tested this out with an old buggy game.  When the outfit setting was taken off the club (kids are club members) they did not have issues aging up.  I saved as, went back to the old save, left the outfit setting for the club on boho, and the age up bug happened.  Same kid, nothing else changed.    Boom!

@lcowden Its most likely because kid ages in a age restrictive club to teen and the child sim can't change out of club outfit during a club gathering, which the child gets kicked out of the club and game can't change Childs outfit so the child ages up with the child outfit and sim looks all freaky game throughs exception because aging failed and aging of child resets to 0.

My club isn’t age restrictive.  The mom and kids are in it.
