[NEEDS INPUT] Object sinks into platform and can't be placed/rotated

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? Norsk
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.68.154.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All, except Eco Lifestyle, Journy To Batuu and Nifty Knitting
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Build a platform and place the toilet.
What happens when the bug occurs? 1: After placing the toilet, facing the front of the lot, I’m unable to rotate it. 2: Rotate the toilet before placing it on the platform. Both times it sinks into the platform.
What do you expect to see? Being able to place a toilet on a platform and not having it only face one way.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Patch from 11/10/2020

I don’t know if this is a bug.

I’m using the 5-1-2 Kiyomatsu lot in Mt. Komorebi. If I move the house further in on the lot, it workes fine. But as soon as I move the house backwards, to the second-last tile, the toilet deleted itself.

But it doesn’t happen to all of my toilets, only the one next to the back wall.

Toilet 1st floor:

Toilet 2nd floor (no issues with this one):

@marianlarsenSounds like the sort of situation where I'd want to try saving and reloading the game between placing the house in the middle of the lot and moving it to the back. Obviously that's just a potential workaround, and it shouldn't happen! 🙂  I take it the toilet hadn't simply sunk into the platform?  Also is there any wall object on the wall you were trying to put the toilet on?  Again, possibly under the platform?

I downloaded your lots and tested this and and also did a couple of test builds trying to replicate what you are seeing.  And what you describe sure does happen.

So I went to a vacant lot and did a test build and rebuilt your configuration and it worked fine.  At first.  Orientation of the toilet didn't matter.  It placed in facing every direction.  Then I moved the entire test build a couple of times around the lot and it started doing what your builds did and got even worse.  And what I ended up with was that the toilet would not place at all on the upper platform and kept sinking to the level of the lowest platform.  In your build it would place in two directions.  In the end, I couldn't place it facing any direction.

What I think is that this is related to several other posts where there are problems associated with placing objects where platforms have been moved.  Every thing works fine until you move a platform and then some objects won't place in the area where the platform was.

I also think that the issue is worse if the base of the house is a platform.  That 5-1-2 premade lot is basically one big platform to start with so the level where you are trying to place the toilet is actually 3 clicks up rather than the 2 that it appears to be.  I found in my testing that it gets worse the more levels you go up too.  Placing the platforms on raised foundations seems to work a little better but there are still problems.

So in the end, I think there is definitely a bug.  But I think you can do what you want to do but it make take building from scratch and not moving any of the platforms at all to get there in the end.  That is going to be a real pain for builders.  And renovating an existing build will be difficult at best since it looks like you can't move a platform without some type of problem occurring.

    Hope this helps.

@CGrant56 That explains a lot, thank you. At least now I know it’s not something I did «wrong» with my build.

@marianlarsen I haven't tested this (or read the whole thread) so short questions: Is it only toilets that give you issues ? If you place other objects it's fine ?

Further testing with your lots today.  Found something interesting.  If you save the lot to your library and then bulldoze the lot and then place it from your library again seems to clear up the problem with the toilet.  You might want to give that a try to see if it works for you.

    Hope this helps.

@CGrant56I just tried something similar on a different lot.

I am currently triying to place two small desks between two platforms, and the game is not allowing me to do so. I get a red bubble with a message saying I can’t cut through obstacles.

I tried your suggestion, saving the lot to my library and bulldozing the lot, but I still get the same message.

There are two free squares between the platforms, and the desks are one square each.

That is something that I found while testing.  You simply can't place a lot of objects directly adjacent to a platform without using MOO.  What objects that will place MOO off  is really hit and miss as some things will place just fine but others won't.  I also think it's the same thing going on when the walls drop when you try to place one against a wall or in a corner.  The platform dimensions are a little bit wider than a tile and extend just a hair too far.  They should work just like stairs against a wall but sadly do not.

    Hope this helps.
