@MapleSimmer Interesting. I've been using gardening since long before Seasons. (don't get me started on how badly seasons nerfed gardening)
I never actually noticed about the spacing. I always space them out at least 1 full tile. Always have. Mainly because placing them closer together causes them to clip into each other and makes it too hard and clumsy to target when I need to click on the item for evolving, weeding, watering and such.
It might work on plants with smaller sizes like mushrooms, snapdragons, and maybe onions and carrots. But with plants like strawberries, roses, and dragonfruit, the plants are too big and clip into each other. Looks sloppy to me putting them too close together like that. Plus, like I said, they get all bunched together and too hard to select for individual options.
@Psychotps I’ve been gardening since Sims 4 came out (I always loved it in 2 and 3 too), my comment was just that I’ve been mostly using planters and keeping my plants inside since Seasons because I want my plants to be harvestable all year round. I’ve recently started using pavilions (ie covered gardens, but can plant directly in the ground, but I can’t say I paid attention to the spacing yet. I was mainly commenting because I saw the report before I went into my game and I just happened to have a spinach to plant so could confirm, with pictures, that I saw the same thing.

Jennifer
- Psychotps6 years agoSeasoned Ace@MapleSimmer I'm a bit torn about the inside/outside gardening thing. I love the idea of harvesting my plants year round, so I did the same thing as you for a long time. Just make a box of walls to make a "room", put columns on the corners and deleted the walls. I end up with a completely open space that's still considered a "room" and shelters my plants.
Problem is, gardening "indoors" where the plants are sheltered causes the number of harvestables per plant to be reduced. (With the exception of the money tree, which is greater indoors)
I ended up writing my own mod that makes all plants spawn year-round. That way I can plant them outdoors and have the full spawn size. :P
