Just wanted to add that this is still happening almost a full 2 years later and has not been fixed. Despite occurring on console and, as such, not being a mod related issue.
I can also confirm the claim that planting used to work fine before it broke with whatever hotfix they introduced.
Tonight I tried planting oversized cabbages about a dozen times in one of the plots at 5 Cobblebottom Street. It only worked twice and it seems to be completely random as to why. Moving the plot around did not fix the issue. At one point I moved the plot slightly up, had the game plant successfully, then reloaded my save and tried the exact same thing and it didn't work.
There were no animals or objects overlapping the plot unless the game is counting my sim. Which is great considering sims will always stand on top of the plot when told to plant a crop there. :/
Unlike other people having this issue, nothing is actually moved to my household inventory either so I'm just...stuck unable to get a function of the pack I paid for to work.
This is beyond frustrating.

I had some more time tonight to test this problem. Again I tried around 10 or so times to plant oversized crops and had no success. Same lot and same sim as my last post.
Here's a list of things I've tried in total that have not helped at all:
- Planting different types of overgrown crop seeds
- Moving the dirt patch to different areas on the lot
- Trying both the different plantable dirt patches that came with CoL
- Making sure the patch had free space around it (first one tile wide all around, then two tile wide all around)
- Having my sim attempt to plant the seeds from different spots on the lot
- Trying to plant the seeds with "bb.moveobjects on" enabled
I am almost certain at this point that it's happening solely because the sim is standing on the patch. It assumes an object is already there (the sim) and attempts to move the planted seeds to my household inventory...which isn't working. Maybe it's because I have Seasons and it's raining? I have no idea. If it is because of the sim that's aggravating as they have to stand there to plant the seeds!
I really hope that this gets fixed soon whether by EA or a modder. Combined with the bug that's causing hatchable eggs to spoil playing a sim trying to use features from CoL is miserable. I can't believe both of those bugs have remained in the game for two full calendar years.

Still an issue but doesn't happen always tho.
I noticed that in my home lot this bug tends to happen more often but not at all on community lots 🤔
