[NOT BUG] Busking - Performance Spaces Always Occupied by Other Sims

I'm playing as a family in the Spice Market district. There's a Performance Space object for busking in the public lot below but every time I go to use it, there's always another sim using it that won't leave. The sim will just busk forever. I was also under the impression that you would be able to put the Performance Spaces in your inventory and place them in public places for use; am I wrong? As is, I haven't been able to try the new busking feature at all, which is very frustrating.

  • I just looked at this in my own game, and I can't reproduce them "always" being there. From what I've seen, the NPCs will perform for about 3-5 Sim-hours and then leave, and then the spot becomes open for about 1-2 Sim-hours before a different NPC shows up, who also plays for about 3-5 hours. Can you let me know if you're perhaps not seeing the same?

    And yeah like someone else mentioned, you can always socialize with the performer (just like a Friendly Introduction) to interrupt them, and then take over the Performance Space.

  • You don't seem to be able to drag and drop the performance space out of a sim's inventory, for whatever reason.

    But to get the NPC busking to quit it just queue up a social interaction with them and wait for them to put down their instrument. The performance space should be free now, so cancel the queued interaction with the NPC busker and go select to use it yourself before another NPC jumps on it.

    It's a similar case with the karaoke machines. NPCs will rabidly make a move for the machine when another finishes, the window to queue an interaction is quite short (since you need to decide which genre and then song). The easiest way is to pause as soon as an NPC finishes, which is inconvenient/unnecessary.

    My Sim was actually tipped just playing in the open street. Seems you don't need the object.

    I don't think this is a bug tbh but tagging @SimGuruNick @IrishMadCat_EA for more insight

    Not sure. I'll file a report on it and find out. 🙂

    I'll mark this as not bug for now.

    Should the not being able to put performance space in public places be a bug, then I'll just open a new thread for that.

    Sorry for the late reply @SimQARobo

    I've tested this and this is how it works for me

    • Bought the performance space and placed it in the apartment --> Was able to drag it in and out of inventory
    • Went outside in the world and used Place in world to put it in the world --> Was not able to drag it in and out of inventory but I could use put it in inventory

    Not sure if you should be able to drag from a place in the streets.

    @crinrict

    My understanding is that dragging should only be possible on areas that are accessible through Build Mode.  So what you've described sounds like it's by design.

    Thank you 🙂
