It's a mad run around for those of us that just wanted them turned off for all neighbourhoods. I am so glad I didn't use my four year old save to test my new pack or I would be so angry now. I honestly wish I hadn't updated my game and probably won't after this has been sorted for a very long time. I always have the game progression thing turned off so why the devs think I or others like me would want it back on for this I have no idea. I think after 20 years + I'm done with this 🙄

In my game this feature 😠 managed to kill off Lilith Pleasant, one of the Pleasant twins (so now I can't play the twins story), and left a random father of two babies a single dad by killing off his wife. Which is the point I realised the settings hadn't applied.
All that murdering the game did to my sims happened inside of an hour.
Doing the massive tweaking as I wrote in another post above fixed the settings so that they actually obeyed me, and I haven't encountered the error 0 save bug either, so doing all that fiddling I did to tame this update is maybe something others should try.
