The purchase books option has disappeared when I click on bookshelf. I have not found any other way of buying books.

I was having this problem. I had to buy a higher grade of bookshelf, and then it worked.

Try selling the bookshelf and buying the same one (new) after selling it Remember to sell(sell books via the build/buy catalogue you can drag books from shelf there but not in live play mode) all books in(the books in the bugged bookshelf are unable to be dragged from bookshelf)bookshelf once the buy option on bookshelf is available Replace sold books with new ones from buy menu Do the same to replace bugged computer

As of the February 2016 patch this is still an issue. I tested this with a new game after deleting my cache files. This issue occurs in the premade household and it doesn't matter if you move a new family in, merge a family, or play one of the premades This also occurs with refrigerators, toy boxes, and computers as well Deleting the computer, bookcase, toy box, or refrigerators will allow Sims to be able to make purchases and use the items This also affects items that go in inventories such as bars, musical instruments, tablets, food, toys, and books by preventing the objects from being dragged into inventories

I'm unsure but they might have a capacity. Did you try buying a new one on top of the one you have ?

I know you can buy them from a computer. Try a computer in the public library if you haven't been able to afford one in home yet.
They will appear in your inventory immediately upon purchase.

I have tried buying a new bookcase, no success there. I will try the computer at the library. Hopefully that will work. I will let you know. Thank you!

I tried on both the library computer and purchased a computer for the home. Both were unsuccessful.

Hello! I have Windows 8.1 and I downloaded my Sims4 online. Since installing the New Patch, my Sims can not buy New Books. What could be causing this problem? Are there any features I need to disable in order for my Sims to purchase books in the Buy Mode? Thanks

Do you not get the options on the book shelves anymore ? Are you using any mods ?
