    This is still happening in 2024. Occasionally, I can take a great picture of the pet, but mostly, the camera is placed right behind the sim's legs, so you just see a sliver of the pet in the middle, and semi-regularly, it's a random shot of a nearby wall with no pet or sim in sight.
