I have a multi story house with a balcony, and the vac on the upper floor goes out in the rain and breaks.I tried putting the dock in different places, but the instant it starts the clean routine it goes out side first before doing any other rooms.The one on the ground floor does exactly the same, but because the porches are covered, it does not break in the rain.Occasionally, the ground floor one will break in the kitchen after going outside. Again, tried putting the doc in different places but still does the same routine every time.The vac's are not upgraded as my sims are not handy.

I have this issue and my house is on a foundation. My robot vacuums are always breaking and there is no option to make it unbreakable. I never have installed a mod or cc in my game. They constantly go outside and vacuum the grass and will break in the rain. Watch James Turner’s recent let’s play. He doesn’t use mods either. The robot vacuum goes out in the rain and snow, always breaks, never returns to the dock. These are the exact issues I’ve been having and what is complained about on this (rather old) thread. The robot vacuum has been unusable for me for years.

I have the same problem except I have a split level house with the new platform tools and my robot vacuum hopped the different levels and then went outside and stopped and wouldn't go back to it's dock when command by my sim. I had to manually do it in build mode...

@WildNerd12 Yes, this also happens in my game - the part when they stop half-way and won't return to the dock. It's very annoying...

The only thing that worked for me was putting down the illusion fencing that is flat on the ground. Your sim can walk over it but so far the vacuum hasn't.

does it only happen with the fully upgraded one for you ? My not fully upgrade one does go outside occasionally but it's not that bad that it doesn't clean anything else.

I see that sometimes aswell. Sometimes it returns but then the loading station is blocked even when its perfectly accessable.

Sameee! I recently moved my sims house to a different town, from palm springs to the town that came with the cats and dogs expansion.
I had no problem with the roomba ever going outside in palm springs but now. Everytime it goes outside to clean what? Who knows. And I can't figure out why it's doing this. Surely it knows it's outside.

@Ryannfayythe Could be something about the house itself. Does it only happen in that particular one ? Does it depend on the neighborhood ?

This happens to me with fully upgraded vacuum cleaners in all households.

This is happening more frequently in my game. Not only are they going outdoors randomly to clean and getting stuck in the rain. I had 3 break at the exact same time on different floors in my house. They won't return to the dock either without me physically moving them there in build mode. Also, I had the sim repair the robot vacuums and empty the trash which was carried out. However, the next time I went to use the vacuum, the trash had not been emptied. My game crashed this morning but I think this crash was related to the cat interaction.
