I've been having the same issue for some time now. I don't know when it appeared for the first time, but some time last year or even before that. I also think it happened some time after I got the Dream Decorator Pack, at least I don't remember it happening any time before that.
Try sizing down an island counter and placing an appliance on it. Works for me!
