I have all packs and my game is current version
I've had this occur lately. There's two adults in the house and twins.
They queue up EVERY single option with the baby, check, feed, diaper, soothe, talk, put to sleep and they scroll through every action until they get to that one that solves the problem, but then they go through each one picking the baby up and putting them down between each one.. to make matters worse, soon as one parent puts the kid down... the other will come in and do the exact same thing. I've had them want to introduce them to people who're not on the lot, but nearby...she got there introduced and then the mother left one of her infant on the docks at the carnival cause she wanted to go check on the twin.
It's so constant you basically have to lock the parents in a room away from the kids for them to sleep. It was sort of that way for toddlers too, but happened far less frequently.
It ruins the adults ability to do anything because they're always dropping what they're doing to check on the infant. Understandably... it's an infant. They should be watching them... but this makes the game really rather unplayable with infants. You basically can't do anything because the game is always queuing infant stuff.
I can reproduce this with and without mods. I sort of get the feeling that this is a first time parent moment, because the third child, didn't seem to get as much of that, still ALOT.,... but it seemed less so for me. Currently looking for tuning mods to ease up the helicopter parents.

It’s been months with no fix. I wonder if EA is hoping that if they don’t fix these game breaking issues, it will push people to buy the sims 5 when it comes out in the hopes of getting a better experience.

Got too much money into this one to just jump ship... this needs fixed.
LittlemsSam's infant tweaks does help a good bit btw.

I’d like to add that just as frustrating - maybe even more frustrating - than the constant queuing of “check infant” (which I can at least cancel and decrease the frequency of with mods) is the complete impossibility of canceling when the Sim you want to care for the infant decides they’re done. Put down, place in crib, place in playmat, hand to some other random Sim on the other side of the lot… all of these actions keep auto-queuing in front of other actions and can only be canceled by resetting the Sim.

Even before the infant update, parent autonomy was… interesting. I used to put my newborns in a room and lock the door to everyone but they primarily caregiver, as the baby would be starving to death and mom couldn’t get to it through the herd of NPCs rushing to shush the baby. (And yet NPC parents wouldn’t care for their own babies or toddlers, so if your Sim visited someone with little ones they’d have to feed them and change their diapers.)
The first time I had triplets, I temporarily moved in the grandparents and it was chaos. Mom autonomously plucking the toddler off the potty mid-poop to put them to bed. Dad autonomously picking up an eating toddler and putting them to bed. Grandma autonomously doing flash cards and grandpa autonomously picking up the toddler mid-flash-card to plop them onto the potty.
It’s worse.
I recently fired a nanny because the newborn was born on one of my custom holidays. The baby cried repeatedly with a bottle thought bubble while my family was at the holiday service. He would shush it or cuddle it but refused to feed it. I brought mom home early to fire him and feed the baby.
And yes, “check infant.” The only way infants are playable is if you never let any of their needs get below yellow. Otherwise, you get “check infant” overriding anything that actually fixes their needs.
