I'm experiencing something similar with this. All of the NPC elders in my game have fear of death and do almost nothing but run around terrified and screaming incoherently. It feels very ageist. Other played sims have received fears such as 'fear of a dead end job', right after being promoted or getting a raise, and fear of fire with nothing able to alleviate the fear except for spending points on 'fear away' potion. I've also experienced played married sims, with the soul mate trait and full romance bar, randomly wanting to break up with their partner and when the want isn't satisfied they start autonomously insulting and arguing with their sim spouse, regardless of their personality traits (such as having the 'good' trait).
I have a sim who is a ''Player'', ''Brave'' ... all traits that should reduce or prevents certain fear to pop-up, but no, despite having countless girlfriends, my sims always get the ''Fear of being cheated on'' without having any other sims trying to flirt with his spouses/girlfriends... That does not make any sense, especially since his wife saw him cheated, but since he has ''Player'' trait, she did not seemed to get jealous, otherwise she got a cheated sentiment lol... and no fear at all of being cheated... tell me how this situation is suppose to happen? If she gets the cheated sentiment, she should get also the fear of being cheated, but with the player trait, she should not have any of those features... and my sim as well since he is the one cheating...
Also, fear of the dark is broken, but hey, my sim have ''Brave'' trait who is supposed to prevent sims to be scared, so I guess since the scared moodlet is linked to that fear, my sim should not get that fear, and his a grown up adult lol, make no sense at all... please EA, keep this one for children or teen, that would make sense.
Also, fear of dead end job, so this one I havent figured out how it get to my sim, or why, its seems excessively random and way too often, like its not normal that it pops-up to every sims every week... it should be super rare... on top of that, the ''want'' for resolving this fear only appears randomly or when my sim is not working, making it impossible to resolve quickly, and on top of that, happens to show up on days off lol, and when it happens, I select the option to regain passion, but fail very often, so you can imagine, the only day of the week where I had the possibility to clear it off is... not happening... this is very very frustrating right now, and the settings to turn off the fear does not work.
At last, sims that get angry moodlet because of unfulfilled dreams will stop any action they started to do, like you tell them to go pee, they will stop, you tell them to cook, they don't resume etc... I guess this was by design, but the way the fear system is so much and too fast, too random... this is getting just a nightmare to play.
