[OPEN] [DU] [GRO] ICYA Chest/Keepsake box/backpack Inventory Locked After Moving

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.79.93.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Everything
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Place items in the ICYA chest 2. Move Sim with chest in inventory to new household/take to University 3. Place chest in world and try to remove items
What happens when the bug occurs? I try to drag items from the chest into inventory or the world, but can't grab them
What do you expect to see? Items leave the chest and go into inventory or displayed in world
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

This was supposedly fixed in a previous patch according to the old bug report, but I'm still having the issue.

    My Sims have had this issue with any storage object, including fridges and marble jars. It also happens to furniture that Sims can "put in inventory", such as a litter box. I had to buy new fridges and marble jars and so on for my Sims as a result. The fridge basically just stopped functioning as a storage object - I couldn't drag-and-drop plates of food into the fridge anymore, for example.

    @SimmerStar4 I hadn't connected this to the fridge inventory not working after keeping furniture when moving to a new lot thing, but yeah, now that you mention it, I can totally see how this could be the same bug! Good catch!

    Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but I thought I'd put my locked chest into my sims household inventory and just bought another one, thinking that I can at least start storing new items. When I opened the chest, all of my previous items are there! AND I can put stuff in it again as well as take it out! Hope that helps until they fix this bug.

    I just moved one sims out of a household with a backpack and a keepsake box in her inventory. She lost the ownership of all items inside the backpack/box. I did the old trouble shooting routine:

    - remove mods (which is just MCCC an MCWoohoo)

    - deleted the localthumbcache.package file

    - deleted all lastException files

    - repaired the game

    - started the game and closed it

    - started the game again

    The bug is still there and appears with moving via phone and via manage households.

    The workaround was to take all items (which weren't exactly a few, hence the boxes) out in into the sims inventory, move and put everything back. TantienHime's workaround didn't work for me as different keepsake boxes have separate inventory. It may not work for the Eco Lifestyle boxes too for the same reason but I haven't tested it.

    @VerbascaHow did you get the stored items out of the box and into the sim's inventory? I can't get them out for one of my male sims using any method.

    And this poor man has been painting since he was a teen and went to university. Now he's married and moved into a new house and BAM all his stuff is basically destroyed by this bug.

    Edit: he's using the ICYA chest

    I got so excited, but alas this did not work for my ICYA chest issue. [SEE BELOW] I am happy it worked for you, however! 🙂

    EDIT: I put the first chest back into the house and them I was able to start dragging items out of it again! I am currently dragging all items out of the cursed chest so I can sell that and hopefully the new chest won't be so bugged. THANKS! Gosh I hope they fix this soon though, what a mess!

    This worked. Actually, I didn't even have to buy a new one. I moved the chest into the household inventory, then moved it right back into the room. Now the items inside are normal again.

    Not sure if this is a bug or feature. Father sim collected items though out his life. Flowers, crystals, other collectibles, etc. Put the box in the daughter's inventory. She moved to a college lot, unable to remove any items that she didn't put in the box. I thought that might be a feature. But the father, an elder, also gave her the family box from Growing Together before she moved. He did the leave to family member interaction. My sim is also unable to retrieve anything from that box. I was unable to get anything from either box on a college dorm lot or on the regular residential lot she moved to after college. That part feels like a bug. The items can't be selected or dragged. She was also stuck in a robo arm if that matters but I was able to get her out of that with help from another thread.
