This was bothering me for so long, I knew something was wrong with so much empty space underneath Sim's name!
Sims don't have emotion shown, cats, dogs and horses have. This issue occurs in vanilla game.
What color should the text be? Because mine is always the same colour, not like OP has... Is it another bug?
I don't recall the emotions ever showing up over Sims, so either it's just something that's never shown up whether intentionally or not, or it's been a bug for a while. Though it would make sense for the text to be prioritised on pet Sims, since without mods, they're unselectable.

An empty space under the Sim's name suggests that something should be there.
Could you please check if animals in your game have colorful emotion name or is always the same color?
