[OPEN] [FR] Can't Complete Buy Shirt at Night Market Goal if Already Bought

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.103.250.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All but the Modern Menswear Kit
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Either have other sims in the house already buy the shirt for the Fount of Tomarani Knowledge aspiration or buy it before you reach that part of the aspiration.
What happens when the bug occurs? Once you reach the part of this aspiration where you need to buy the shirt and it's already been purchased, it won't count the already purchased shirt. Also, unlike the Snowy Escape aspiration which has a similar goal, using the option to 'buy and wear' doesn't mark it as complete.
What do you expect to see? I expect if my sim, or others in the household, have already bought both shirts that it should either mark as complete, or that choosing the option to 'buy and wear' would let the goal mark as complete. As it stands, you can't complete this part of the aspiration if the shirts have already been purchased before you reach this part of the aspiration.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. This happened after adding the For Rent EP since it's a bug with the pack.

Here's a screenshot of the aspiration stage:

No description available.

My sim is unable to complete this without cheats (obviously the cheat 'aspirations.complete_current_milestone' would complete it) since her parents already bought one shirt each from the night market and there are only two to buy. I also noticed this with another sim where I had bought the shirts before she got to this stage of the aspiration.

Note I removed my mods folder before Tuesday's game update and have not added them back so I've been playing mod (and cc) free since the update and installing the pack. I also deleted the localthumbcache file and repaired my game after the update and after installing the pack.

Best regards,

Jennifer

  • If the sim goes back to the stand and you chose just the wear option, does that count?

@MarleyTheWizard  Choosing the option to buy and wear after it's already been purchased doesn't count. That's what I was referring to when I said "Also, unlike the Snowy Escape aspiration which has a similar goal, using the option to 'buy and wear' doesn't mark it as complete." in my original report. 🙂

However, what did work is to move the third sim out of the household to a different household. That made it so that the shirt was no longer showing as purchased so my sim could then buy the shirt while in a different household (I expect a new household would also work, but didn't test that) and then I moved her back to her original household and she was able to move on to the next part of the aspiration. Obviously using the 'aspirations.complete_current_milestone' is easier, but that's an option for those who don't want to use cheats, especially console players, at least until this is hopefully fixed.

    Best regards,
    Jennifer

  • Yep, same problem, except my Sims had already bought the shirts themselves before reaching that point in the aspiration (unlike the OP who had someone else in the family buy the shirts). As a result, I don't believe the OP's workaround of leaving for another family would work for me.

@ae2e2ad59c70318d I've also had a sim buy it before they reached that stage, that's when I first noticed the issue. The purchase of the shirt is actually tied to the household so if you move the sim out of the household that sim who already purchased the top will get the option in another household. However if you only have one sim in the household I expect you'd have to move a sim in first, and then go back out to manage households and temporarily move the existing sim to another household and then have them (re)buy the shirt. I just tested with a household that the sims had purchased the shirt before they reached that part and that did work for me. I wasn't sure which of the two sims had purchased the tops so I took turns moving them individually out to a different household and they both had the option to buy both shirts when they were in the different household (though of course that second household can't have already bought the shirts).

These were both my sims' options at the stand after they had been moved out to a different household even though one of them had purchased the shirt before they reached that stage. Both only had the option to wear the shirts when in their original household where the purchase had been made.

  • Among tomarang ambitions, I already did 'buy a shirt at night market' so I can't complete it.. Is there any way?

  • Yep, this can't be completed without using cheats! (in case you already bought the shirt before doing the aspiration, that is)
