Product: The Sims 4
Platform: Windows 10
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Sometimes
What is your current game version number? 1.103.315.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Every expansion, game pack, and stuff pack except for: HSY, Horse Ranch, DHD, MWS, and Home Chef
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Create a rental unit and wait until the explosive malfunction event triggers
What happens when the bug occurs? The event wants me to replace a damaged stove, grill, or oven, but there is no broken item and I'm not able to replace anything. I can't go to build mode, when I click on the stove I only see the regular stove options.
What do you expect to see? A broken stove, oven, or grill and a way to fix it.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes, but I also had them when the event worked. I can't remove and re-test, unfortunately.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? I don't think so? It worked originally, and now it doesn't.
The explosive malfunction doesn't seem to be triggering properly for one of my lots - it worked alright for the duplex I was originally playing in (although for some reason *my* unit's stove was the one to go) but in the apartment complex I'm currently running the event doesn't seem to have broken anything? I've traveled to every unit and nothing is broken. I went home and nothing was broken. I went again to the affected unit, and still, nothing was broken.
Unfortunately, I'm not able to deactivate my mods to test this, since its a random event. However, it was working for me on my first residential rental lot and I haven't changed any of my mods since. The only difference is that for the first one my landlord was living on-site, for the apartment complex the landlord is living separately. The first sim was also a human sim, I'm currently playing a servo for the second.
Edit: another change - the first lot had a very expensive stove, and the second (where the event did not trigger) had The YumCooker (Used) stoves. I changed the stove in the affected unit to a regular The YumCooker, went home, and went back, and - still, nothing was broken.
A workaround I was able to use was to SHIFT-CLICK break stove, then repairing the now broken stove, which successfully ended the event.
