"Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660"... I was really shocked. LOL. I am not used to seeing "Chip" by a graphics card.
@wasikm007 my game keeps reverting to dx9 as well! I've played a bunch in the past few days (hooray for vacation!) and I've noticed that after I type in the -dx11 command and save it, it'll play like that once or twice but then when I reopen the game it's randomly gone. @crinrict, do you know how to make this stop reverting?
- crinrict5 months agoHero+@fancyfeet711 Is the string gone ?
- 5 months ago@crinrict do you mean like the -dx11 thing I have to write in the properties? Yes, that keeps vanishing even though I type it in and save it.
- wasikm0075 months agoSeasoned Veteran@fancyfeet711 Yes that is correct. So, you are experiencing this too. This is weird eh? I made a post on this in hopes we get some answers.
- crinrict5 months agoHero+@fancyfeet711 are you always starting through ea app or sometimes through a shortcut on your desktop ?
@crinrict I use both the app or the desktop icon interchangeably. I haven't noticed of that makes a difference but I'll see.
**Edit to add: I opened up my game from the EA app just now and had to retype the -dx11 as it had disappeared again, despite being saved yesterday.

Under investigation. Accepting as solution for visibility purposes only.
Hello all,
If any of you are still encountering this on the latest game version (without mods) would you be willing to share your save file(s) with us?
If so, please send me a private message with a link to the file. Instructions can be found here: http://x.ea.com/74420
Thanks!
- crinrict5 months agoHero+@fancyfeet711 Also add it to your shortcut and see if that helps.
If you use both, you need to add it both places.
You can find instructions for the short cut here: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2017/03/disable-single-packs/
Expand the how to add command line arguments and check the tab shortcut. - 4 months ago
Is this issue still being investigated?
SOLUTION: for those like me - I was unable to use the dx11 workaround. I continued to receive an error with a message that says "The requested operation requires elevation"... I tried running the EA app and Sims4 app as an administrator and still.... NOTHING. I came across this blog on Reddit and it was the only thing that has let me move cabinets without the crash!!!!! I pray it's a permanent fix, but hopefully it will help someone struggling like I was.
"Find where Sims 4 is installed first. The default path nowadays is: Program Files (x86)\EA Games\The Sims 4 but it actually used to be: Program Files (x86)\Origin\The Sims 4. It could be in either one, depending on when you first got the game. Once you find The Sims 4 folder, go into "Game" then "Bin". If you have a desktop shortcut, you can simply right-click it and select "Open file location". This will take you directly the "Bin" folder. You should see in there several files including: "TS4_DX9_x64", "TS4_Launcher_x64" and "TS4_x64".
Right-click the one that says "TS4_Launcher_x64" and select "Properties". Click on the "Compatibility" tab and check "Run this program as an administrator". Then click "Apply" and "Ok"."
Hope this helps!
