[OPEN] General clipping Thread

When trying to do the same thing simultaneously from two sims, it makes them go through each other. They don't wait untill the other sim does his/her job. (eg: trying to take sth. from the refrigerator.)

    Have you tried it on a vanilla unmodded game too or just with lower amounts of Sims but that mod installed.


    Reason being that I can't take reports on modded games. Bugs need to be fixed and if they occur on modded games, it has happened before that stuff was jotted down to mods in the game.

    This has been tested with a new, un-modded file and the result is the same. If you start an event or invite a club to any community with small walking areas or DJ booths, they immediately begin sharing slots and walking through objects which the group is attracted to.

    in the last test, upon arrival, three immediately stood on top of each other:

    then one walked through the DJ booth and began cheering:

    This test was performed with an entry level club (6 members) + the maximum number of visitors who were invited by phone. With larger clubs, participants will stand face-to-face with the DJ and as many as five sims may occupy a single slot. Again, no mods, scripts, or custom content was installed.

    Thanks.

    I think we all see clipping, some more extreme than others so I'm using this as general thread for these kinds of issues as stated above.

    Can you please define "clipping" ?  What I'm seeing appears to be a timing and/or threading problem with slot selection during randomization of interactions with shareable objects such as the DJ booth.

    This is a different problem. Each object has pre-defined slots for interaction between sims, operator(s) of the object, and the object itself. When this problem occurs, as many as five sims will share a slot which means they'll stand within the same space during the interaction. They're not passing through each other, they're being routed to identical locations for random interactions. in extreme cases they even stand at the DJ's position facing the opposite direction after passing through the walls of the DJ booth.

    Here's an example of two sims attempting to interact at a distance which isn't appropriate for the animation after routing failure. In some cases this particular interaction is performed between rooms or even on different floors of the house. The sims extend their arms toward each other and continue socializing:

    This appears to be related to the slot selection problem which is causing sims to stand on top of each other, share seats, and pass through the DJ booth.

    I understand what you are saying. It's a problem the DJ Booth has but I don't think every object that has an issue should have it's own thread.

    I think one thread is sufficient. I have added this one to the list as the other report was EA Forums only.

    I've seen this happen with desk chairs and large group conversations as well but it does noticeably occur more frequently with the DJ booth. In one case, while one sim was working at her computer, another sat on top of her, moved the chair, stood up, then pushed the chair back under the desk while the other sim was still attached to it and working at the computer - she walked away because the computer object was obviously in use.
