I have that issue as well. Not the most annoying one, but still an issue. I suggest:
1- Lowering # of accessories allowed on head (hat/glasses/piercings/earings/necklasses) to max one. Treat makeup differently, and allow a 25% females sims wearing make up only, for males, I would say 2%.
2- Since an update that reduce the amount of body hair on male sims, which I am not happy about... (put it back up, I have more female with bodyhair than males... it does not work that way in real life, or simply reduce the amount of female sims autogenerated with bodyhair to 10% or less, that would avoid having that discrepencies that make things weird.)
3- Lowering # of accessories allowed on arms and legs, but treat nails differently. (lowering to 1 accessorie MAX would help a lot more. As for nails, female could get 25% chances to be autogenerated with nails, 0% for males)
4- I also noticed in my game, a lot of female sims have their belly rounded to the max, even if they are not fat, they looked like they are pregnant but they are not... reducing the range, and make it so that females sims dont get autogenereted with excessive round bellies would help. I havent seen this issue on male sims.
5- This one is for outfits categories. Limit the accessories to everyday, formal and party outfit categories only. Another thing, EA, I have never seen any person irl that wear slipper to sleep... like if you are willing to put slipper on sims to sleep in your game, thats your own business and sims SHOULD never have slipper generated on their sleeping outfit or swimming outfit. In my game right now 100% of time, townies are generated with slipper for their sleeping and swimming outfits, that has to stop.
Those are my suggestion to reflect a little more real life and avoid having extremely unappealing townies...
I'm still deleting more every day. I'm moving out of Tomarang to see if avoiding the area makes a difference. I've never known so many new Townies dressed oddly since adding Cottage Living. I attach the horror of Granny in a crop top along with her Sunday best hat and hipster pants.🤦
@Francoisf30 I've also noticed the odd round belly. I've seen it on women and on a new male Sim today too at the Night Market. I'm all for curvy Sims but it looks a little out of proportion to me.

This issue is really impacting Cupid's Corner as well. Matches are being generated with way too many accessories and wild outfits. I'm noticing that they're not immediately appearing in Other Households either for me to edit them. I'd already corrected a whole batch of them ready for Lovestruck's release. I didn't appreciate just how many randomly dressed Sims would be generated by the app. I'm attaching an example. The photos of matches don't look so great unfortunately tbh.
Edit:added more images. Unfortunately this renders Cupid's Corner virtually unusable. These are just 3 images but I could have added a lot more. Some are generated with full bright makeup too.

As of October 2024, I can confirm that this is still an issue. All of it.
In my game, Im console ps5 so no mods, townies spawn a lot with the following:
- those curvy summer hats with sunglasses
- gloves
- nose piercings, the biggest too
- the darkest eyeshadow ever
- for vamps, all scars possible, especially from werewolves. Also max vamp brow and scars.
- vampire shirts and pants.
- the ugly red pants
Body wise:
- worst ashy skin with palest hair and asian eyes and names
- pales sim with palest hair and asian eyes as well as name.
- pear sims. Like come on...
- bloated female sims
- no chin sims

@OllyWollyZolly You're right to say it this way: it's not a bug, it's a mess.
This should be cleaned up.
And the pear-shaped male body should be REPLACED!!! I get that the creators of the game wanted to make something cartoony, but it doesn't fit with the rest of the game.
