I also noticed that my sim was gaining Gemology form the Chemistry Lab (but not from the Chemical Analyzer where she was analysing actual crystals and metals...?).
However my main issue with this is not gaining a different skill from before, but rather how quickly I'm gaining that skill, (it would be nice if the parts where you analyse crystals actually gave you Gemology skill). I'm at day 2 at work and have already reached Gemology level 4, while I'm barely past level 2 in Logic. I had been planning to explore the Crystal Creations gameplay for the first time with this sim, but now it feels like I'm cheating by leveling up several times before I've had time to try the new Gemology table.
@OrganizationZero Same here, I think it would make sense to gain gemology skill on the analyzer when she's analyzing crystals, not on the chemistry lab when she's making serums out of plants. I also think it's bizarre how fast the gemology skill increases when using the chemistry lab.
Same problem here, I was definitely not doing any experiments with crystals. I really don't like this bug, the skill levels up way too quickly this way
